Kate, main character, lived her whole life with her older brother, father, and strict Christian mother in a small rural community. One day, her family crumbles and her father is forced to leave. Her older sister moves to the big cities. Kate is 18 years old and has just graduated from high school. It’s now time to seek higher education. Julia, Kate’s older sister invites her to come live with her at the experimental college. It is free but offers an unusual approach to education. Julia offers Kate her services and she accepts. Kate is looking forward to a better future in a new location. Her life might not be as glamorous and exciting as she wants it to be.
